I am thinking about getting a dog but i know nothing about them.

it would be helpful to know about the different breads that you have, their personality types and anything else you think is relevant.

a friend of mine just got a goldenpoo (golden poodle mix) puppy and it doesn't shed and lseeps a lot.

Hi

what are you looking for in a dog?

do you want a puppy? cuz there is more work involved in training a puppy...

do you want a big dog or small one?

all breeds have common traits (im sure someone else can tell you more about them) but the bottom line is that if you are willing to put the time into taking care of and training your dog, any dog you get will probably work out well.

me...im partial to bigger breeds like labs, german shepards, danes, dobies, mastiffs and those types. i think they are considered working and sport breeds

i dont see myself ever having a toy breed, but i guess they are good too...

once you get one, be sure to post a pic here so we can all see

I'm not a fan of all the new poodle mixes myself. Sometimes they get the poodle trait that makes them not shed, sometimes not. Sometimes they're smart like a poodle, sometimes not...

Personally, I think a really good place to start is to figure out how active you want your dog to be and go from there. A hyperactive Jack Russell Terrier can turn out to seem like a lot more dog than a laid back Great Dane.

Call a local rescue group and talk to someone about the kind of dog you want. Even if you decide not to rescue (which you should...but that's just me...) they can help educate you on what to expect from different breeds, and just being a new dog owner in general.

Good luck!

Well, I can tell you about the breeds that I have.

I have a pit bull, pit bull mix, and gsd.  And they are the best dogs I ever had.  My pit bull loves people.  this breed is very mislead (thanks to the media) and misunderstood.

All my dogs are great around my 3 small children.

What size dog are you looking for?  I perfer the large breeds.  Do you want a puppy or an adult?

Where are you going to go to get your dog?

I have friends that work for rescues and own rescues, so if you want you can let me know what kind/breed of dog you want and I can get in contact w/them and give them your info (with your approval first).

Let me know if I can help, and Good Luck!!
