I think throwing the frisbee around is great for a dog.
Some dogs have a harder time than others learning to catch em, but once they get it...look out!
Does anyone know of any tips to help dogs learn to catch a frisbee?

My dog doesn't catch very well...
I tried to teach her to catch frisbees but she just didn't seem to get the hang of it
I tried to teach her by throwing the frisbee directly at her then once she started to u nderstand that she should try and catch it I started throwing it slightly away from her.
She never really got the ideaa of chasing it down and catching it in th air.
If anyone has any tips, I'll try again and let you know how it goes

It seems like its always the herding breeds that are good at catching frisbees. maybe they are just built for it.
some dogs just may not have the body type for it

Putting peanut butter on anything is a good way to get it in your dog's mouth.

You think peanut butter is the answer to every dog question jean! ;)
"How do I get my dog to roll over?"
peanut butter...
"How can I train my dog to stay off the couch?"
peanut butter...
"What's the secret to teaching my dog to come pick me up from the bar when I've had too much to drink?"
peanut butter...
all that ever teaches a dog is to eat peanut butter!
are your dogs fat?
seriously tho...
ive never tried teaching a dog to catch a frisbee using peanut butter, but it might work and cant hurt to try.
ive noticed that, like i said before, some dogs just take naturally to it and you don't have to teach them anything at all.
my dog isn't one of those...
so i would play with her and the frisbee, having her chase me and grab the frisbee from my hand. after a few times, i started letting go of it right before she grabbed it so that she was actually catching it. then i started releasing the frisbee earlier and earlier until she was comfortable grabbing it out of the air..
its kinda like when your mother or father taught you to ride a bike, they held on to the bike while you got the hang of things, then gradually let go.
having said that...
my dog to this day can't catch frisbees.

Our dog loves peanut butter!!!!!!!! And we love to kick a soccer ball around the field and watch Lucca chase it. He likes to watch us chase the ball too!

I have "bird dogs" who LOVE to chase a frisbee through the air, especially if it is one of those not-round ones that sort of flutter as it flies. But as soon as it hits the ground and they realize it is not a bird, they lose all interest. It is so not fun to throw something, then have to walk to wherever it fell to throw it again!
