Sorry a hiccup on my part so i will try again. I cant delete the Topic heading. I had missed out the E so tried to delete.
Rhodesian Ridgebacks are my chosen breed. I had 4 in total over the years. Kaos is my boy he is 7 years old and i am just mad about RR's.So when i came on line to this group first pic i saw was an RR. It did persuade my to join. Big,beautiful, stuborn, need good training and lots of love.It helps if you are a little mad.

I have a ridgeback mix I adopted almost 6 years ago. She is the smartest dog I have ever met but is always so nervous. The vet told us that dogs adopted from North Shore Animal League usually are rescued from the south and are taken away from their mother at a very young age. This is true because we got Bella at 6 weeks old and she was already fixed. Taking her away from her mother at a very young ago created this nervous habbit. My question to other owner's is your ridgeback tend to be nervous sometimes or is it just my Bella. Is the vet right and how can I help her/

I've never had a ridgeback, but the ones I've met have not seemed especially nervous.
The ones I've known have been bold and a bit territorial.
Dogs are a lot like people, each one with its own personalities. Maybe she will grow out of it with a few training classes or doggie daycare which will expose her to new dogs and people. It seems to me that the dogs I've had have gained confidence as they learned stuff
