A new column has been published in the Pupforum Ask a Trainer section:
9 Week Old Puppy Won't Listen I have a 9 week old Boston terrier- Chihuahua female mix. I am having a hard time training her to be obedient to my voice. She when I tell her to “COME” she runs. She will go under things were I can’t reach her to pull her out. She will run and make me run after her. She runs around if I tell her to sit. She just does everything opposite to what I want her to do. ...
Post your comments on the column here.

My one comment is the puppy is a baby plus her attention span is about a second long.puppies respond to light happy voices, never hit or scold your puppy anytime you call it example puppy come then if the pup does not come right away and it finely comes you have to praise it .If you go after it do not say a word, use treats or the food it eats also remeber terriers can be a little stuborn make training happy.

You need to get some good resources and start learning. sounds like you are causing some problems. You can't blame a 9week old pup any more than you can blame a 6 month old baby for something.

It is a good thing that you are trying to get some training going this early, but I would suggest to use a lead to keep her close to you ( very loose, just to prevent her from running all over the place) and try to teach her in small steps using treats to lure her into doing what you want, do this several times a day for 5-10 minutes only, then you can increase the time as she develops more attention. Corrections wont do any good if she does not understand what you want her to do. Be carefull, have patience, and even better get some professional help before you teach the puppy bad habits without wanting to.
A 9 week old puppy is capable of a lot, but there is a method to their puppy madness! is not the same as teaching a 6 month old puppy, so if you read a book or watch a video, remember the age of your pup. "baby steps"!
