A new column has been published in the Pupforum Ask a Trainer section:

Doxie And Dobie Are Playing A Little Too Rough
Advise on how to get a 5 month old Doberman to play gently with a 9 month old Minnie Doxie. So far I keep the Dobie on a leash when they go outside to play and leave them loose in the house for a little while each day. The Doxie can go under the couch or chair if the Dobie gets too rough. I sometimes use a water bottle to squirt them on the butt if they get to running in the house or get too rough with each other. Any ideas would be a big help....

Post your comments on the column here.

I had the same problem introducing a Shih Tzu puppy into my house with a 5 year old male Dobe.  It was wild around my house for awhile.  The Dobe would not leave her alone!!!  In time, though, she stood up to him.  Those little sharp teeth on his neck and legs calm him down lots!

I make the Dobe "get on the couch" when things get too wild.  He's funny, his ears will lay straight back!

Here is a link to a website of a lady who has Dobes and a Doxie who I think will be glad to correspond with you.  She helped me when I had the same problem.  www.tylerdog.com

I'm sure time will take care of the situation, my dogs are best friends now.
