A new column has been published in the Pupforum Ask a Trainer section:
Puppy Shreds Puppy Pads When Left Alone My husband and I added Kihei, a beautiful black Labrador Retriever puppy, to our home a month and a half ago. We currently live in a large apartment and have her in a playpen with puppy pads while we are away at work. The longest stretch of time that she is alone is 4-5 hours in the afternoon. Our problem is this: She tears her puppy pads to shreds! As we have carpeted floor where her playpen is located, taping down the pads has not worked. ...

I had a similar problem with my labs tearing up the pads and news paper. I came across something called a "Wizdog" . Which is a plastic pan with a fitted grate on the top. You would put the news paper or pads under the grate-to catch all the liquid waste and the solid waste would sit on the top of the grate. It runs about forty dollars and I've only seen it online. It worked for us! ?Good Luck!
