A new column has been published in the Pupforum Ask a Trainer section:

How Early Should I Train My Puggle?
Hi, I have a 3-month old puggle. He does OK, as far as house training, but occasionally he does make mistakes on the carpet. My question is, at what age should he and I go to a trainer? Is he too young now? I would like him to be obedient (all the time), use the bathroom in the right place and to stop begging for food all day....

Post your comments on the column here.

I have a boxer / lab mix although because the father is an AKC registered Boxer she is more Boxer than Lab. My question is how do I effectively get her to stop biting? I understand that this is how puppies communicate. And she's hard headed. She's smart if she wants to learn it she can pick it up within a day... on the other hand coming when called is not on her "to do" list... Any advice????

When my puppy was going through that stage where he put his mouth on everything, I would make sure I always had a dog toy in my hand while playing with him. If I saw his teeth coming at me, I'd shove the toy in his mouth. I also dragged an old towel around when I wanted him to follow me. That way if he was playful, he would bite and wrestle the towel instead of nipping my heels. He grew out of it in a couple of months.

As for coming when called, it's tough to get any puppy to do that. Carry a handful of dog food in your pocket, and at random times call him to you and just give him a little. That will build a very good foundation for having him come when you really need him to. Good luck!

I am searching desperately for a black pocket/miniature puggle. Does anyone know where I may be able to get one? Thanks
