I need to tap in to your doggie wisdom because we are having a progressive problem with one of out dogs. I will try to explain the whole situation without writing a book (not that I will be successful).
I have had Dakota since she was 6 weeks old, she is now 4 years old, she is a rottweiler/shephard mix. Over the years she has seen many dogs come and go from our house because I used to foster dogs until they were placed in their new homes. Originally Dakota was a very sweet, submissive dog that wasn't bothered by anything, even if another dog tried to fight with her she would lie down & wouldn't fight back. Several years ago a german shephard/husky foster dog visciously attacked her unprovoked. Since that time I have noticed that she is more dog aggressive (which I can understand) to the point that I now am afraid to bring any other dog around her.
We also have 2 other dogs, a 6 year old purebred shiba inu & a 1.5 yr old lab/dalmation/pit/? mix. All of them are female & they are all spayed. The three of them had been getting along just fine until a couple months ago. The shiba is rather stubborn & one day refused to go outside when I put the other two out, rather than chase her around I just left her inside, well later that day when I went to take the shiba out back, Dakota visciously attacker her the second she hit the door, this wasn't some little fight, she was trying to kill her, due to my own stupidity I was badly bitten by Dakota on the hand & then she continued to
attack Phoebe until my husband literally picked Dakota up and threw her.
We figured that Dakota was jealous because Phoebe had been in the house while she was outside and decided to make sure that they were never left alone together. So as long as we were home everyone was inside together with no problems (our shiba frequently growls & snarls at the two bigger dogs but they just look at me and walk away) well now we come to approx 2-3 mths after the first attack. Our shiba was out front on a lead & the other two dogs were in the house, a friend came over & when I answered the door I noticed the shiba was still out front and told my daughter to let her off the lead so she could come inside to meet my friend. The second she came thru the door Dakota went after her again only this time our biggest dog got involved too, again being in a panic & brain dead I stepped in between them thinking they would separate...HAHAHA....this time I got bit by our biggest dog in the knee thus rendering me unable to walk....Dakota & Jasmine continued to viciously attack our shiba until she was no longer moving. I had kept yelling the dogs’ names throughout the attack & finally I knew they were done so I had my friend open the door and they ran out back. Much to my surprise our shiba came walking into the living room. She went to the vet, I went to the hospital......we realize that much to my broken heart we must find a new home for our shiba because as the vet said she won't survive another attack.
